FAQ

  • How does this work with a router? DukeEgr93 16:50, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
    • See the main PuTTY page, specifically with respect to setting up tunneling. Even if you are on a router, the tunneling will take care of getting the information to the right machine. DukeEgr93 21:42, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
  • What does PuTTY stand for? DukeEgr93 18:20, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
    • No idea. Apparently, it may not mean anything...[1] DukeEgr93 18:21, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Why? Awp6 15:11, 27 August 2008 (EDT)
    • Because i said so. Tgr3 15:12, 27 August 2008 (EDT)
  • Why won't a window (xterm or matlab) show up! I have double checked all the security requirements. When i issue the command, xterm or whatever, it appears to hang, meaning it moves onto the next line without the information on the current directory i am in (which usually shows up). When I add the '&' symbol after, it shows a number and another number. Example:

[aj75@teer2 ~]$ xterm & [4] 4291 [aj75@teer2 ~]$

This has been tried out on Teer18 as well. Please help so I can do my homework! Aj75 16:29, 27 August 2008 (EDT)
