My favorite demonstration was "Viewing a Penny." I thought that the way Matlab was able to create a plot of the penny with brightness being proportional to height was really interesting. I had never truly thought about how each small contour in a penny contributes to the overall image. I had also never realized that the thinnest parts of a penny are the areas directly to the right and left of Lincoln's head and neck.
