This demonstration was by far the coolest MATLAB displayed because of the graphics as well as the relatable topic. Adding to the excitement, the data used was taken from the National Geophysical Data Center. Furthermore, I was not solely looking at a 3D graph of a function, but analyzing the different altitudes and depths of Earth's landscape. This demo was also one of my favorites because they showed a transition of the dimensions.

They begin by explaining how there is two aspects to the code; one variable is for altitude, the other is for colormap. You then watch as what begins as a single contour line of the earth's continents, transform into a 3-D globe. To do this you create code to add surface, lighting, and angles to the globe.

Overall, this demonstration stood out to me because it allowed me to see how MATLAB can create graphical models of real life data that can be used in all types of scientific fields.

I am in the Pratt School of Engineering and planning to study Biomedical Engineering. I am from Boston, Massachusetts, so I am know for my amazing skills at driving. My favorite season is winter because my favorite sport is skiing. This Fall I joined Duke's ski team.
