About Me
My name is Emily, and I'm a student in EGR103. I'm interested in biomedical engineering, but am also very open to changing my mind. Specifically, I'm interested in neuroscience, especially Neuroprosthetics, so if you know of anything neuroprosthetics related on Duke's campus, or any other ways I could get involved, feel free to let me know!
Name Pronounciation
My first name, Emily, is pronounced like Emily Blunt pronounces her first name. My last name is pronounced "berry," like the kind of fruit.

Grand Challenges for Engineering
The 14 Grand Challenges for Engineering provide meaningful perspective for future engineers about why we learn engineering, and what common goals we as a community of engineers are striving to achieve. With that in mind, one of the challenges that particularly speaks to me is improving the accessibility of clean water. Here are a few articles regarding the importance of this issue, as well as potential solutions:
- Drinking-Water Fact Sheet, World Health Organization, updated July 2017, accessed 12 September 2017 (Grand Challenge: Access to clean water)
- Improving Access to Water and Sanitation in Rural Haiti, The World Bank, updated 25 September 2014, accessed 12 September 2017 (Grand Challenge: Access to clean water)
- Global Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, updated 11 April 2016, accessed 12 September 2017 (Grand Challenge: Access to clean water)
