EGR 103L: Assignment #1

For my article about the Grand Challenges of Engineering, I found an report written about advances in storage technology for solar power. The ability to store energy from solar-sources would make solar energy a more viable energy alternative.

"Storing Sun's Energy Can Solve Drawback Of Clouds And Nights Stabilizes Solar Power Supply Better storage technologies mean sunshine not always a must to have solar power" Howell, Dana. Investor's Business Daily. Published 20 October, 2010. Accessed 9 September 2012. (Grand Challenge # 1- Make solar power economical)

EGR 103L: Assignment #2

My favorite MATLAB demos involved the plotting and rendering of 3-D forms.I was very interested by the manner in which "Viewing a Penny" and "Earth's Topography" converted 2-Dimensional contour lines into 3-D renderings of physical objects. I am interested in architecture and 3-D rendering, so these demonstrations of computer models of 3-D objects intrigue me. I would aspire to be able to produce such images in a MATLAB environment.
