Grand Challenges
Here is an interesting article about a school in Raleigh pursuing the NAE Grand Challenges as part of its curriculum: Putting the science spotlight on a Raleigh magnet school, Randy Atkins, News Observer, 22 February 2013, 8 September 2014 (Grand Challenge).
Matlab Demonstrations
My favorite Matlab demonstration is the "Viewing a Penny" demonstration. I enjoyed it because it showed me the power of Matlab with its ability to trace the topography of a penny, recolor it based on height levels, and analyze its shapes in a visual program.
