Who am I
I'm Candice Sheehan, a first year Mechanical Engineering major from Cincinnati, Ohio. I am fascinated with sharks, sustainable living, and the great outdoors.
What I do
I'm Vice President of Operations for Duke's chapter of Girls Engineering Change and a member of Duke's Club Swim Team. Outside of organizations, I love to hike, camp, read, and spend time in nature.
Why am I here
I'm here to learn as much as I can about engineering with the intention of using my knowledge and skills to improve existing marine research and conservation technology. I am specifically interested in the use of underwater autonomous vehicles for observing pelagic sharks.
MATLAB Demonstrations
My favorite of the MATLAB demonstrations was "Using the Live Editor" because, in the past when I've worked with MATLAB, I was always bothered by the fact that the plots pop up in their own window, often overlapping with my command window. With the Live Editor, the plots appear in a subsection of the main MATLAB window alongside the code's outputs. The Live Editor also makes it easier for newer, younger students to learn MATLAB because the connections between code and outputs are more clear.
