My favorite MATLAB demonstration was the "Loma Prieta Earthquake" demonstration. Although I did not comprehend the majority of the commands used in the demonstration, the sheer amount of computational and graphical capacity that MATLAB has surprised me. I learned that by only using a few lines of code, one can organize and display meaningful relationships from large sets of data. Even more, this demonstration shows that MATLAB has very practical applications (in this case analyzing real-world earthquake data) and can be used to make complex data analysis rather simple. I now look forward to better understanding the commands and functions used in this demonstration so that I can take advantage of MATLAB's computational and data analysis capacities as well for any future work.
